Success Story: Unifying the Advancement Capability for an American Icon
While working at a mid-sized consulting firm in Washington, DC, Marko served as the program manager for a large, complex, multi-year engagement for the largest museum, education, and research complex in the world. At the time, the institution’s advancement (fundraising) technology and processes were extremely decentralized which prevented visibility, information sharing, and collaboration across the organization.
Marko led a partnership between the client and its technology vendor to consolidate more than 50 disparate systems and numerous business processes into a single enterprise-wide solution. Marko served as the “quarterback” of the engagement by identifying and mitigating risks, holding team members accountable for their work, and bringing creative solutions to program and organization challenges. He built rapport and trust with the client’s leadership team and stakeholders through honest, timely, and straight-forward communication and by following through on commitments.
Under Marko’s leadership, the engagement team delivered a wide range of business and IT consulting services including system integration, data transformation, business process reengineering, change management, and cyber security compliance.
In the end, the program delivered on its promise of enabling donation officers, advancement leaders, and executive management to brand as a single institution and engage its donors in a much more efficient and effective manner – ultimately establishing the foundation for long-term and sustainable growth.
