Success Story: Modernizing Technology to Increase Energy Efficiency
A Phoenix-based utility is in the midst of long-term, far-reaching enhancements to its advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and related systems. Due to technology obsolescence, operational challenges, and an inability to grow a highly-rated energy efficiency program, the client needed to think strategically and set a path for long-term success – they turned to Overlap for consulting and leadership.
Overlap advised senior leadership throughout a lengthy and complex contract development process, working collaboratively with executive leadership, program sponsors, and legal representation to manage the process, drive consensus, and negotiate with vendors. We established and helped lead negotiation strategies and performed detailed analyses to identify optimal pricing and contractual terms. The outcome is a fair and well-defined Software as a Service (SaaS) agreement, program statement of work, and hardware purchase amendment.
Now, Overlap is serving in the program manager role, working across numerous client stakeholder groups and with two external technology partners to ensure the program is delivered on time and meets all expected outcomes. We established the program’s governance processes, built the detailed integrated master schedule, and put controls in place to ensure the program is executed in accordance with the statement of work.
